Key Responsibilities
· Consults with clients to assist with their logistics needs and freight movement.
· Gives freight movement quotations to clients
· Communicates with customers, carriers and truckers on shipment status and/or delays both verbally and via email often in non-office hours
· Coordinates movement of freight for clients with internal departments when necessary
· Prepares and issues export shipping documents.
· Prepares and files AES for shipments as required.
· Handles shipments both as a forwarder and a NVOCC (Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier)
· Files rates and keeps NVOCC tariffs up to date.
The Ideal Candidate
· Minimum of 3 years logistics experience in Ocean Export working a with directly with a Freight Forwarder
· Must have knowledge of ocean export procedures including documentation and regulations
· Must be familiar with handling shipments both as a forwarder and a NVOCC (Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier)
· Must be familiar with hazardous cargo handling. DG certified a plus
· Clear communication to multiple audiences
· Strong attention to detail, preventing errors and avoiding penalties
· Able to work under pressure with tight deadlines; able to pivot when circumstances change, recover from setbacks and rise to new challenges.
· Ability to carry out instructions with minimal supervision.
· Good interpersonal skills and team focused mindset
· Must be computer literate with experience with Microsoft Suite products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
· Customer service oriented.
· Must be organized and good with time management skills
